How We Got Started

Our Story

Hi! I’m Jory Taylor, this is my wife Lori, and these are our awesome kids. Yep our names Jory & Lori rhyme – just another indication of how well we go together!

I’m a Journeyman Carpenter and have been in the construction industry since 2009. Lori works behind-the-scenes in the office, developing future designs.

I met Lori through friends, and we were married in 2012. The following year, I began building RTMs with some help from my father-in-law in Manitoba, a 20-year veteran in building RTM homes. He generously shared his knowledge and insight into the RTM industry and taught me how to build our first RTM home.

Today, Jory Taylor Homes builds approximately four homes a year. We continue to learn and adapt on a regular basis to ensure every home we build exceeds expectations.

Jory’s Backstory

Building Since Boyhood

I was raised on a farm outside of Melfort. It seems like farm boys learn a bit of everything. At a young age, I began doing some woodworking in the nearby shop, building toys and selling them at craft shows. Later on, I became involved in farmer’s markets with my family, and learned a lot about running a small business. I learned that it takes hard work, late nights, and early mornings. I learned that customers are always right, and your reputation is something to hold onto. I also spent some winters working at a sheet metal shop, fabricating and quoting, which has helped me in my trade today. After graduating high school, I furthered in the construction trade by working with an experienced builder in the Melfort area.

Jory Taylor Homes was established in 2013. We’re dedicated to building the home of your dreams and hope to make the process easy and enjoyable for you. While building a home is serious, thoughtful work, we feel that it should also be a fun and exciting time for the new homeowner. We want your house to suit you perfectly; a place where your family will make lasting memories.
